'Allemansfontein' a Farm in the Eastern Cape

Former name of the Farm- Almondsfontein, given by Colonel Robert Jacon Gordon, who was the Commander of the Garrison at the Cape; in honour of Professor J Allemand, of the University of Leiden (the oldest University in the Netherlands.) Who was one of the compilers of; the Nieuweste en Beknopte Beschrijving van de Kaap der Goede Hoop, 1778. To whom Gordon supplied information when he, Professor Allemand, was editing Supplemantary Volume 5 of Count Buffon's; Histoire Naturelle which was published in Amsterdam in 1775.
