- Anti-Apartheid and Southern Africa - Background. For those interested in particularly the Dutch contribution to the international solidarity movement with the anti-apartheid and national liberation struggle in Southern Africa, here an initial selection of information sources is presented which can serve as background information with the archives and documentation collections of the former anti-apartheid groups which were handed over by NiZA to the IISH

- South Africa, Alive with Possibility, the official Gateway. This site touches on everything South African, including South Africa's history. The link is to the short history of South Africa page but there is much more detail to discover!
- A Country Study: South Africa - Library of Congress - Good site that covers a broad range of South African History, though not in very much detail.

- Knowledge 4 Africa - A great site if one wants to get a brief overview of South African History, particularly pre-1900 history.

- Learning Channel - This site takes you through most of the grades with various subjects ranging from Maths to English. Though not all info is up, it is definitely worth a look.
- Department of education
- The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) brings together a range of services for young people from before birth to the beginning of adulthood.
- Oral History Society - The Oral History Society - definition of oral history, how oral history can be used, oral history journals and societies.
- SABC Education - Resources for classroom, children & adults. A great site that is easy to use, interactive and visually exciting.
- "Yenza" - which means, "do it" in isiXhosa and isiZulu - is a guide to using the Internet for research and teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities. The project's understanding of "using the Internet for research" includes using Internet tools for finding information, for conducting research, as well as for disseminating research-related information. This site has a great links to SA History sites section.

- Africa Research Central - This site, from California State University, San Bernardino, offers a "gateway to the archives, libraries, and museums with important collections of African primary sources."
- African Activist Archive Project - The African Activist Archive Project is building an online archive of primary materials - documents, photographs, artifacts, and written and oral memories - of 50 years of activist organizing in the United States in solidarity with African struggles against colonialism, apartheid, and injustice.
- Alan Paton Centre & Struggle Archives
- ANC Historical Documents - Contains a wide selection of materials (including a small selection of photographs) by and about the ANC. The site is divided into ANC documents, "the World Against Apartheid", biographies, and other sources such as the E.S. Reddy collection.
- Archives at the National Heritage Cultural Studies Centre - The University of Fort Hare, South Africa's oldest historically black university, has beem made the custodian of the Archives of the Liberation Movement. The singular honour has been bestowed upon the University by the Pan African Congress of Azania (PAC), the Azanian Peoples' Organisation (AZAPO), the Black Consciousness Movement (BCM), the New Unity Movement (NUM) of South Africa, and the African National Congress (ANC).

- H-Net - With an interesting link to African culture and history pages. H-Net is an international electronic discussion group dedicated to the promotion of all aspects of South African history. H-Net posts a variety of academic announcements: calls for papers, conference announcements, seminars and fellowship, grant, award and other funding notices.
- Human Sciences Research Council HSRC -HSRC Press is South Africa's open access publisher committed to the dissemination of high quality social science research based publications, in print and electronic form. The Press publishes the research output of the Human Science Research Council and externally authored works. A formal peer-review process guarantees the highest academic quality and the Press has a very active local and international marketing programme, in addition to collaborating with foreign publishers on specific titles.

- O'Malley - "The Heart of Hope - This resource is hosted by the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and Dialogue, but was compiled and authored by Padraig O'Malley. It is the product of almost two decades of research and includes analyses, chronologies, historical documents, and interviews from the apartheid and post-apartheid eras.

- SAMAP - The South African Music Archive Project is an online resource of South African music and associated cultural heritage, so as to promote multidisciplinary research in the field of popular music and culture.
- South African Labour History - The South African Labour History Project aims to collect and document material relating to the history of the South African Labour Movement. This website is well designed, very visual and easy to use.
- South Africa Resources - A complex regional resource of South Africa containing links, news, pictures and book.
- The South African History Archive - SAHA is an independent human rights archive dedicated to documenting and providing access to archival holdings that relate to past and contemporary struggles for justice in South Africa.
- The South African Journal of Economic HistoryUniversity of the Witwatersrand Department of Historical Papers - Offers information about the Department of Historical Papers, whose collection spans the 17th century to the present. Detailed information on selected (mainly 20th century) archival holdings is provided.
