Durban- the Treasurer General of the ANC, Dr Mathews Phosa was the keynote speaker at a PBF Breakfast and Networking event which took place at the Chief Albert Luthuli ICC on 24 March 2009.
The Treasurer General spoke about the Road Ahead and the plans of the ruling party in Government for the next five years. He identified a number of issues that are affecting our people on a daily basis and some of those key focus areas are as follows; the creation of decent work and sustainable livelihoods; the further improvement of educational infrastructure services; the further improvement of health services; rural development & food security, land reform; the fight against crime and corruption.
He mentioned that the Government work never done, and that much needs to be done in the next five years, as the ANC members are aware with the fact that they need to fast track the quality of health care and education as well the creation of decent work and sustainable livelihoods.
It was also attended by the KZN Chairperson of the ANC, and MEC for Finance, Dr Zweli Mkhize, KZN Treasurer and MEC for Health, Peggy Nkonyeni and senior former MP, District Mayor of Umsunduzi Municipality, Yusuf Bhamjee, Durban Deputy Metro Mayor, Logie Naidoo, and senior MP Dr Albertina Luthuli as well as nearly 300 guests.
